Can a fan hang from my existing light box?
Only if that box is fan-rated, and most are not. A standard ceiling box is designed for a static load; a fan adds vibration and torque. An electrician will check and fit a braced box if needed — it is the part of this job that matters most.
Why does my existing fan wobble?
