About flooring & tiling services on Task Masters
Flooring and tile installers prepare the base and fit the surface you walk on, from hardwood and vinyl plank to carpet and ceramic tile. Some also install backsplashes and tiled showers. Good results depend on the condition, flatness and moisture level of the underlying surface, as well as the chosen material. Ask for a measured quote that explains preparation, installation, transitions and cleanup, and confirm which specialist tasks are included, particularly waterproofing in wet areas.
What is usually included
- Removing existing flooring and disposing of materials when specified
- Checking the base surface and carrying out agreed repairs or flattening
- Installing supported hardwood, vinyl, laminate or carpet products
- Installing tile and grout on floors, backsplashes or other agreed surfaces
- Fitting transitions, thresholds, baseboards or other finishing trim
What affects the price
- Measured area, room shape, cuts and installation pattern
- Flooring or tile choice, underlayment, adhesive and extra material needed for cuts
- Removal work, repairs to the base surface, moisture issues and required waterproofing
- Furniture moving, stairs, trim, appliance handling and disposal
How to choose
- Review work with your chosen material and the same type of room or wet area
- Request a measured scope separating materials, preparation, installation and extras
- Ask how the installer checks the base for moisture and flatness and follows manufacturer requirements
- Confirm the workmanship warranty, care instructions and when the room can be used
Frequently asked questions
Can new flooring be installed over the old floor?
Sometimes, if the product allows it and the existing surface is stable, suitably flat and dry. Added height can affect doors, transitions and appliances. Ask the installer to assess the layers underneath and explain whether removal is necessary before accepting an overlay quote.
Does tile or waterproof vinyl make a bathroom waterproof?
No. A water-resistant surface does not automatically protect the structure underneath. Tile and grout are not a substitute for the waterproofing required in a shower, and vinyl products have specific limits and installation instructions. Confirm that the selected product and complete installation are suitable for the area.
When can I walk on the floor and move furniture back?
Timing depends on the flooring, adhesive, grout or finish used. Material acclimation before installation and curing afterward may add time beyond the fitting itself. Ask for separate instructions for foot traffic, furniture, rugs and wet cleaning, and agree who moves furniture and reconnects any appliances.
