What clogged drain usually costs
$110–$350 single fixture
Main-line blockages run $250–$600. Repeat clogs are worth a camera inspection rather than a third clearing.

What a clogged drain job normally includes
- Augering or snaking the line back to clear flow
- Clearing the trap and checking the fixture drains properly
- Identifying whether it is a local clog or a main-line problem
- Advice on what caused it, so it is not back next month
- Camera inspection available where a clog keeps returning
About clogged drain
A clogged drain is usually grease and food in a kitchen line, hair and soap in a bathroom one, or roots and debris further out in the main. A plumber clears it mechanically — with an auger, a drain snake or a water jet — which removes the blockage rather than eating a hole through the middle of it the way a bottle of caustic drain cleaner does.
Clearing a single blocked fixture typically runs $110 to $350. A main line blockage, where the machine has to go in through a cleanout and travel much further, is more like $250 to $600, and adding a camera inspection to see why it keeps happening is usually $150 to $400 on top. The strongest signal of which one you have: if a single sink is slow, it is a local clog; if several fixtures back up at once, or a toilet gurgles when the washing machine drains, the problem is in the main line and it is worth booking that straight away.

Questions about clogged drain
Should I try a chemical drain cleaner first?
Generally not. Caustic cleaners often bore a narrow channel through a blockage rather than removing it, so the clog returns quickly, and they can damage older pipes and seals. They also leave a plumber working in standing caustic water — tell them if you have used one.
Several drains are backing up at once. Is that different?
Yes, and it is more urgent. Multiple slow fixtures, gurgling toilets or water appearing in a shower when the washing machine empties all point at the main sewer line rather than a single trap. That needs clearing through a cleanout, and should not wait.
It keeps clogging in the same place. Why?
Usually something structural — a belly in the pipe, a partial root intrusion, or a fitting that has shifted. A camera inspection finds it, and it is cheaper than clearing the same line three times a year.
