What faucet repair usually costs
$110–$300 per faucet
Covers call-out, labour and common parts. Seized shut-off valves or corroded supply lines are the usual reason a simple job grows.
A typical US range to plan around, not a quote — every professional on Task Masters sets and publishes their own price, and you see it before you book.
What a faucet repair job normally includes
- Diagnosing which part has failed rather than replacing the whole tap
- Cartridge, washer, O-ring or aerator replacement
- Checking and, if needed, replacing the shut-off valves and supply lines
- Testing for leaks under pressure before leaving
- Clearing up under the sink
About faucet repair
A dripping faucet is almost always a worn part inside it — a washer, an O-ring or a cartridge — rather than anything wrong with the plumbing behind the wall. The repair is quick for somebody who has the parts on the van, and it is worth doing promptly: a tap dripping once a second wastes over 3,000 gallons a year, and a drip that is left tends to end in a seized valve and a bigger bill.
Repairing a faucet typically runs $110 to $300, which usually covers the call-out, the labour and a common cartridge or washer set. Replacing the whole faucet with one you have bought is a similar labour figure — often $130 to $350 — because most of the time is spent working in the cupboard under the sink, not on the tap itself. What pushes it up is corrosion: shut-off valves that have seized, supply lines that have to be replaced, or a fixing nut that has rusted solid under a sink you cannot get your head into. Mention the age of the fittings when you book.

Questions about faucet repair
Is it cheaper to repair a faucet or replace it?
Repair, usually — a cartridge is a few dollars and the labour is the same either way. Replacement makes more sense when the faucet is old, the finish has gone, parts are no longer made for it, or the body itself is corroded. A plumber will tell you which case you are in before starting.
Do I need to turn the water off before the plumber arrives?
No — they will isolate it at the shut-off valve under the sink. It is worth checking that valve turns, though. If it is seized, say so when you book, because the water then has to come off at the main and that changes the job.
How much water does a dripping tap actually waste?
A drip a second is roughly 3,000 gallons a year. On a metered supply that is real money, and a hot tap dripping is wasting the energy that heated the water as well.
